This Framework is designed to support mentors, facilitators, practitioners and other professionals engaged in supporting, developing and nurturing social enterprise in diverse contexts and environments.

Competency Descriptor Skills/Abilities
1. The ability to identify and nurture entrepreneurial talent with focus on addressing social issues and challenges ·         Identify social problems in local, regional, national and international contexts

·         Source, identify and develop entrepreneurial skills and capabilities

·         Create visioning frameworks for social innovation

·         Apply social innovation entrepreneurial development strategies through social entrepreneurs

·         Knowledge and understanding of the social economy

·         Knowledge and awareness of social enterprise legal structures and different business models (cooperatives, credit unions, development trusts, community interest companies, etc.)

·         Commitment to the values and ethos associated with the social economy and recognition of the potential of social enterprise methodologies to meet intractable social challenges
